We are researchers at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The first thing to remember is:

You are not alone.*

 

Ø      Nationally 6.3% of children live with grandparents (4.5 million).

Ø      In Hawaii 12.9% of children live with grandparents (over 38,000).

Ø      Numerous reasons are why o’hana are caring for keiki including:

o       Illness

o       abuse

o       drug abuse

o       economics

o       divorce
