Public opinion of Hawaiian issues in the newspapers.

Public opinion about important issues is shaped in many ways through government policies, laws and by court opinions. It is also strongly influenced by the media - on t.v., radio and in the newspapers.

Enemies of issues and programs that benefit aboriginal Hawaiians are well aware of the power of persuasion and have undertaken efforts to sway public opinion through the media. Unfortunately, the efforts of these anti-Hawaiian groups (Aloha for All - Conklin and Burgess, the Grassroots Institute - Dick Rowland, Malia Zimmerman, Bruce Fein) amount to a propoganda machine of misinformation. They promote inaccuracies and misconstrue history that has been documented and accepted by reliable historians and the U.S. Congress.

These anti-Hawaiian groups should not be allowed to promote their veiwpoint unchecked.

A careful analysis of the (mis)information these groups are spreading is offensive to every resident of Hawaii, to non-Hawaiians and particularly to aboriginal Hawaiians.

This webpage will provide people with an opportunity to quickly read through some of the stories that are being told in the newspapers, provide insights into the mistruths that are being spread and provide example responses that can be used to rebut these innaccuracies.
