Short Biography

I am a Post Doctoral Associate with the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the College of Engineering at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. I collaborate with Dr. Amit K. Sanyal and Dr. Peter Crouch. I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Mathematics at the Technical University of Denmark; my main adviser was Dr. Poul G. Hjorth and my co-supervisor was Dr. Francesco Bullo, from UCSB.


Research Interests

Control and numerical analysis of mechanical systems.

Teaching

In the fall 2008 I will be in charge of the course "ME 678 Advanced Dynamics."

In June 2005 and June 2006 I assisted my Ph.D. advisor  Poul G. Hjorth in the teaching of the course "01451 Classical Mechanics and Symplectic Integration" at DTU. The course duration was three weeks; the first two weeks consisted of lectures and problem solving, and the last week was devoted to the solution of a mini project. The course material was the lecture notes and exercises ( short version ) along with a few selected sections from the book "Geometric Numerical Integration. Structure Preserving Algorithms for Ordinary Differential Equations" by E. Hairer, C. Lubich, and G. Wanner.

Popularizing Science - The Tippe Top

In connection with the annual science fair "Den naturvidenskabelige landsby" in Copenhagen 2006 I have written a short manual on how to construct a tippe top . This has been produced after looking at various commercially available tippe tops, and many hours of trial and error. Following this guide about twenty out of the thirty tippe tops I constructed worked perfectly, whereas the rest did not work too well.
