ABSTRACT
The purpose of this project was to develop an evaluation tool for high school students to use in selecting appropriate resources from the World Wide Web as information resources. The term resources was defined as anything from which information can be derived, whether textual, visual, or aural in nature. The evaluation instrument, OASIS, was developed from criteria in existing guidelines created by teachers and librarians, beginning with criteria from the 1997 study by Wilkinson, Bennett, and Oliver. OASIS is an acronym for objectivity, accuracy, source, information, and span. The tool was tested at Roosevelt High School, and refined for future use by the State of Hawaii Department of Education.
