On July 5, 2005, Winona Freitas, Rufina Molaka-Lee and Maria
Ka`ahanui Suganuma's dream of an educational and wellness center
was dedicated at Papakōlea.
The great day began with an Oli by Kua`ana Lewis, Assistant Pastor
at the Word of Life Christian Center.

Kaleo Keawe welcomed all who helped make the Technology and
Resource Center a reality.

Opening Pule and acknowledgments by Puni Kekauoha, Executive
director of the Papakōlea Community Development Center.

Ben Henderson, Deputy Director of the Department
of Hawaiian Home Lands provided opening remarks.


Theone Kanuha, President of Kula no na Po`e
Hawaii and Annie Au Hoon, President of the Kewalo Hawaiian Homes
Community Association speak on behalf of Kupuna Freitas, Molaka-Lee
and Suganuma whose dream for a better Papakōlea was brought to
fruition on this day.


The Freitas, Kaili, Chung and Suganuma
`Ohana were recognized for
their Kupuna's contribution to community.

Aunty Genoa and Keiki from the summer program
provided entertainment for guests.



Guest speakers included Admiral Kihune (Ret.) Harold Johnston and
Ray Soong from Sandwich Isles Communication and Hawaiian Homestead
Technology.
