Stewie the guinea pig died yesterday afternoon. He was about 4 years old. He had been aflicted with what we believe to be cancer for quite some time. We took him to our vet, Dr. Scott, but he was only able to give him anti-biotics. I don't think a lot of people push for the advancement of guinea pig science, so Dr. Scott did the best he could with the limit knowledge and resources. Stewie lived with his disease for a long time so I'm sure Dr. Scott had a hand in prolonging it. My mom found him with his constant companion Furby sitting next to his body. All their apples and carrots were gone, so we'd like to think that Stewie's last hours were happy and content as the rest of his days with us. Stewie was burried next to our rabbit Rusty/Iha in our yard. Furby has been moved into the house with the indoor rabbits Rob and Perry. We're hoping that Perry and Furby will get along well so that when Rob dies Perry will have Furby to ease her loss.

Stewie was a cute little guy, mostly black with big black eyes. He had an orange patch across his back and side that reminded me of beef stew. He loved to eat and was always standing up against his cage squealing at people as they walked by the cage on the porch. His favorite treat was apples which he got every day along with carrots and many other vegi treats. We knew he was going to die soon and we wanted his last months with us to be as happy as possible. I think they were.

On a happier note, today is Wayne's 24th birthday. It is also girl's day (hinamatsuri) W's at work like always but promises to try to get off earlier or at least on time, so we can take him to dinner. I got him a 12 pack of socks from Costco, because that's what I said I was going to get him. I also got him a pair of khakis from the Gap which I hope he likes even though they're probably not as big, baggy and pockety as his other pants. I wanted to get him something a little dressier he could wear with an aloha shirt for things like interviews or meetings.. stuff like that. I didn't give them to him yet because i want to wrap it and give it to him later tonight.

i have to go do my homework now before me and my mom have to go to O's birthday party.
