Interested in Online Teaching?

With the support of Kapi'olani Community College's Chancellor, Leon Richards, and Title III grant funding, the Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology is offering a professional development distance learning/Laulima certification program for college faculty.

The program's core includes:
  • design of instruction for online environments
  • best practices in distance learning pedagogy
  • WASC/ACCJC guidelines for distance education
  • Laulima (Sakai) tools for presentation of content, assessmment of learning, collaboration, and communication.

Program activities will occur primarily through a course website to give faculty participants firsthand experiences as online learners. For most participants, this is a self-paced course. Depending on the professional development resources at your campus, these online learning activities may be supplemented by a formal mentoring program and monthly face-to-face support meetings. Contact the professional development coordinator on your campus about any such opportunities.
