Core Values

As an educator, I believe in the importance of continuing education to become knowledgeable in the diversity of the different fields.  I have had practice in teaching a wide range of subjects from preschool age students through eighth grade considering individualization, research, hands-on and inquiry based lessons, human development, corrective feedback and various forms of assessment.  At this time in my life, I would like to broaden my experience and skills by continuing my education to obtain a masters degree in the field of educational technology.  With the first two courses that I am currently enrolled in I have developed skills in various aspects of integrating technology in the classroom.  They include: collaboration as I worked with a team in completing two team projects, refreshing my knowledge in the different learner characteristics and writing objectives, evaluating web sites by their AURA, learning how to write lessons using the Expanded Events of Instruction, posting comments for peer feedback, using Microsoft Word to complete a Desktop Publishing assignment, using a spreadsheet to create a grade book, and presenting a technology integrated lesson plan through Power Point.

I value effective teaching as it creates a great impact on the learner. Both courses that I am currently enrolled in required the need of organization and time management, especially since they are both online.  Although both classes were online, I experienced effective teaching methods as I displayed cognitive and reasoning skills when completing assignments along with methods of individualization, feedback, and practice.

I demonstrate care for myself and others as I further my education to gain knowledge, understanding, and experience in providing effective teaching to others.  As a student in the educational technology program, I have experienced care as I work collaboratively with others in my class.  Through positive feedback from both peers and instructors I am able to develop professionally.  Management, fairness, and respect is truly emphasized in the classes I am currently enrolled in.
