Aloha!
E Komo Mai!

Let me give you to a little taste of Hawaii . .

But first just a little history . . .

The first known settlers of Hawaii were Polynesian voyagers around c.750. In 1778 Captain Cook became the first European visitor to the islands. After uniting the islands, Kamehameha I became the ruler in 1810. Although the economy was booming because of sandalwood it was also a time of decline for the Hawaiian people. The native population was significantly reduced due to alien infectuous diseases that Americans and Europeans had brought with them. In 1893 the Queen of the Hawaii, Lili`uokalani was overthrown and a provisional government was set up in place of the Kingdom of Hawaii. The islands were annexed in 1898 and became a United States territory in 1900. Hawaii became the 50th state on August 21, 1959.

Now that we know a little history let's move on to other things about Hawaii. .
