(From a letter to Marj Evasco, April 19, 1995)
The weather is strange today in Hawai‘i--
In the morning and night: the winds surge suddenly, intensely; like a typhoon, they whirl; hurling success to the walls and gates. Not only shaking your hearing but even closed doors.
In the afternoon: the sun is proud and luxuriant, the heat takes root in your skin, the burn seethes, silently; while nearby the abundant greenery blazes. I am filled with fragant dreams. |
