| Manoa as Text The "Manoa as Text" New Student Orientation examines the campus as though it
were a "textbook." Students experience a guided as well as a self-guided
tour to collect valuable information that will orient them for the coming
school year. Students work in teams to collect the information. Discussion
of the material collected provides a preview of the critical thinking
process required in college courses. Comprehensive advising and an
opportunity to reserve Honors courses are also part of the two-day agenda.
Students who sign up for "Manoa as Text"
- will be able to take placement exams during the week of their
orientation
- will receive a comprehensive introduction to academic information
- will be eligible to participate in the free social events that are
planned throughout the fall semester, called "Fall Voyages -- Passport to
Success."
In addition, students will have
- A special campus tour led by Honors Peer Mentors,
-
An extended advising session to integrate Honors classes into a fall
schedule,
- A chance to reserve a seat in specific Honors courses,
- A chance to become acquainted with other Honors students, and
- A preview of the special course for new Honors students, "First-Year
Honors Experience" (HON 197F).
