Dr. Sang-Hyop Lee is Professor and Chair in the Department of Economics at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His studies have focused on issues related with population changes, labor markets, and social welfare, with emphasis on Asian economies.

He has published numerous articles including a dozen of edited books focusing issues on these research topics. His books include Aging, Economic Growth, and Old-Age Security in Asia; Inequality, Inclusive Growth, and Fiscal Policy in Asia; Human Capital Policy: Reducing Inequality Boosting Mobility and Productivity; Social Policies in an Age of Austerity, and the Demographic Dividend and Population Aging in Asia and the Pacific.

He has served as Chair of the global National Transfer Accounts network (www.ntaccounts.org) which includes research teams in more than 70 countries. He has also collaborated with a lot of academic institutions, think tanks, international organizations, and many governments around the world.

Dr. Lee received his BA and MA in economics from Seoul National University, and PhD in economics from Michigan State University.
