Technology is all around us and is affecting everyone. We need to prepare

students for their future. Educational Technology is a field of study

which deals with complex, integrated process involving people, procedures,

ideas, devices and strategies for analyzing problems and devising

solutions to those problems, involved in all aspects of human learning.

Educational technology has a total commitment to search systematically for

new and effective ways of organizing the teaching and learning process.

LIS 592 Standards Based Curriculum Using Computers

This introductory course will focus on standards based curriculum utilizing a variety of tools and courseware in the computer environment that will support the classroom teachers' program. Participants will be introduced to the Hawaii Content Standards and National Standards. (Software covered will be ClarisWorks, Kid Pix and other popular software used in the schools.) Macintosh computer lab will be used for hands-on experience

Participants will be introduced to the instructional design process utilizing the latest software that could be used in any classroom. (Software covered will be ClarisWorks, Kid Pix and other popular software used in the schools. Macintosh computer lab will be used for hands-on experience.) Participants will be asked to bring 3.5" floppy disks, and curriculum resources used in their classrooms.

This introductory course will focus on utilizing internet courseware in the technology environment that will support the classroom teachers' program. Participants will be introduced to the instructional design process utilizing the internet that could be used in any classroom.

Basic telecommunications concepts such as telnet, gopher, e-mail, ftp, and

the World Wide Web pages will be explored using a Macintosh environment. Participants will be asked to bring 3.5" HD floppy disk, curriculum resources, equipment and software currently used in their schools.

Objective:

 

The course will enable teachers to:

1.explore a variety of technology applications which can be used to help

deliver and/or support instruction,

2.design activities which uses technology to deliver and/or support

instruction.
