Course Title: PICD:COMPUTER SCIENCE -- Telecommunications/Internet
Credit: 2 UH Credits
Dates: March 22 - 26, 1999 (Spring Break)
This introductory course will focus on utilizing internet courseware in the technology environment that will support the classroom teachers' program. Participants will be introduced to the instructional design process utilizing the internet that could be used in any classroom. Basic telecommunications concepts such as telnet, gopher, e-mail, ftp, and the World Wide Web pages will be explored. Popular software on the Macintosh platform will be used (NCSA Telnet, Fetch, Netscape, Lotus Notes, ClarisWorks, and HomePage). Participants will be asked to bring 3.5" HD floppy disk, curriculum resources, equipment and software currently used in their schools.
This introductory course will focus on utilizing a variety of tools and courseware in the technology environment that will support the classroom teachers' program. Participants will be introduced to the instructional design process utilizing the latest software that could be used in any classroom. (Software covered will be ClarisWorks, and other popular software used in the schools) Participants will be asked to bring 3.5" floppy disks, and curriculum resources.
