INSTALLATION 01-03 SUBFRAME!

It helps if you have a friend to help you out on this job but you can do it by yourself.

Anywho lets get started

Before we get started on the main bike there are certain things you can do before,  like installing the trunk lock set.  It installs the same way you removed it so it shouldnt be that hard to figure this part out.... but when done it should look like this.... you can ignore those zip ties.... I didnt have those rubber groments for the tail light at the moment so I jimmy rigged it.

Next I installed the subframe onto the frame of the bike.... I noticed it was easy to install the bolts on the left side first and then putting on the right side after..... then tightening them all together when they are all in

Next I pulled all the wires through the left side of undertray where there is a opening and plugged in the fuse box and the other relays like so.  I left the rectifier alone though.

Once the harness wires are through I can screw in the undertray into the subframe.  There are 2 bolts... one on each side

The redline shows which way I routed the tail light harness.  Oh and this is a good time to install the tail light too.

Plug the tail light harness like so into the tail light before mounting the 2 relays that is on the same harness.... the next step will explain why.

You will notice now the harness is too short to put the relay on the tabs of the undertray.  Thanks to ChampF4i for the little tip to ziptie the harness together and putting the longer of the two on the tab like so.

Another tip courtesy of ChampF4i is to drill a little hole preferably 3/4" into the right side of the undertray where the battery box is suppose to be.... this is because the negative wire is too short to reach the terminal.  I didnt have a 3/4" bit so i drill (3) 1/4" holes haha

as  you can see the wire reaches the battery perfectly now

Now would be a good time to install the misc stuff that suppose to be mounted on your subframe
example: the suspension adjustment thingy, your rectifier, and the rear brake master cylinder

Remove the 04+ tank bolts and install the correct ones from the parts list.  The reason why this is important is because the 01-03 tank bolts support the seat better than these bolts as you will be able to see in the pics

new bolts on here

Plug in the ECU like so and tie it down with something if you wish.....i didnt do that part though.
also clean up the wires with zip ties along the subframe so they wont get in the way.

From here your practically done with all the hard work.  The only thing left is to put the tail fairing on.  It may be tricky to get on first but i found the best way to put it on is to slide it over the top and pull on side over then the side and it should wiggle into place..... install the two side bolts and the two frankenstien bolts and the 4 clip bolts to secure the tail fairing.....(dont mind the colorful bike..... im getting it painted today)

Everything else after this is just the odds and ends.
like passenger pegs, license plate bracket, turn signals , ugly reflectors. etc.

Your pretty much done, I just need to get my bike painted now.  It should be done in a week or so.  but for now you can just use your imagination .  Feel free to email me with any questions.
