Why Are Endangered Species At Risk? |
Endangered species have been put at risk due to several factors. Poaching is a common one in which hunters illegally kill animals for their fur, teeth, tusks, claws, and other body parts highly sought after. A more subtle, yet very disastrous factor is habitat invasion by human settlements. Humans reduce the wilderness daily, thereby driving wild animals into each others' territories causing them much stress. Sometimes even unintentional means cause animal endagerment, such as introducing foreign species to an ecosystem that does not have the resistance to fight against or cooperate with this new species. |
