Asthma:
Anticipation, Prevention, and Care
What are the symptoms of asthma?

Most people with asthma are symptom free most of the time, except for periodic “attacks” of asthma. These attacks are usually brought on by a trigger, although they frequently occur for no apparent reason. Symptoms of an attack include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and a feeling of tightness in the chest. The face and lips may also start to turn blue as the face is deprived of oxygen. These attacks usually last several minutes, although they may last much longer.
