Pollen
Many plants fertilize their species by releasing pollen into the air. When inhaled, this pollen can cause lung irritation and trigger asthma attacks. If your asthma is worse at a certain time of the year, such as spring, or most attacks occur around certain types of plants, your doctor can help determine if pollen is the cause. If pollen is found to be a trigger, avoid flowering plants, especially while they are in bloom. Stay indoors if pollen indexes are high, and install and maintain filters on your home’s air conditioning system to minimize its influence while in your home.
