Asthma:
Anticipation, Prevention, and Care
Animal Dander

If the animal that triggers your asthma is a pet, it is recommended that the pet be removed from your home. However, if that is not practical, there are steps that you can take to reduce the likelihood of it triggering an asthma attack. First, if possible, keep the pet outdoors and minimize the amount of time that it spends indoors. Second, keep the animal out of your bedroom, where you might spend the most time exposed to anything in the air. Third, vacuum and clean frequently wherever the pet has been. Finally, wash your hands after coming in contact with the pet to prevent spreading its dander around.
