Kapi'olani Information Technology Emphasis (KITE)
The Five Year Plan 2003-2007
Judith Kirkpatrick,
KITE Coordinator, with Faculty Senate approval March 2003
MISSION
The KITE mission encourages and supports
the integration of technology in curriculum and instruction throughout the
learning experiences of all students.
As
we enter the 21st century information and interactive digital age, KITE must
continue to develop knowledgeable and capable students, prepared for the
challenges of working in a technology dependent world. The College environment
has a strong technical infrastructure; faculty and staff have taken advantage
of numerous opportunities to grow professionally and use IT appropriately.
Students strive to use technology in positive, academically sound ways, to be
successful and productive in college, to be competitive in the workforce, and
to become life-long information age learners.
GOALS
To ensure the
continuance of the KITE mission, the College will:
1. Continue to support and enhance online and campus
environments, including wireless (WIFI) access at the College, that allow students
and faculty to utilize technology in their teaching and learning activities.
2. Implement current information technologies to support
student learning.
3. Increase students' knowledge and skills for efficient
use, management, and production of information technologies.
4. Provide students with current information technologies
to be competent in their chosen fields.
5. Optimize the campus infrastructure for transmission of
data, video and voice to support interactive learning and for transmission of
wireless (WIFI) access for the College community.
6. Provide information technology in an integrated fashion
among institutional support, student services, community services, academic
support and instruction to enhance the student experience.
