In Response To The Moon
By: Keoni Dunn
As the moon lazily turns in the sky,
I look up at it and sigh.
The moon will turn to me, scrubbing his silver hair.
He'll inquire, "What did I do to warrant your stare?"
In response I'll say, "Oh, just wishing on a star or two.
I believe in them now because one of them came true."
He'll ask me, "Still looking for 'the one'?"
I'll smile and reply, "No, my love has finally come.
With her warm hands and open arms I fall into her embrace.
She warms my heart with love and puts a smile on my face.
She is the only one who stuck around to hear me out.
She is my only love without a doubt.
I watched the stars fall apart one by one,
Content that for now my search is done."
He'll ask me, "What about those girls that look your way?"
I'll smile and turn to him as I politely say,
"My love has come my friend.
To her all of my love I send."
