Tired of the Broken Promises

By: Keoni Dunn

Looking around I see things falling apart.

Seemingly, I'm forever mending my broken heart.

Tired of all the lies.

Tired of all the tears shed from my eyes.

Cupid trying so hard, but always misses.

I'm so tired of all the broken promises.

Always putting away my fears,

Just to end up with bitter tears.

Everyone says when it's done

I'll succeed in my search for "the one".

Tired of the good-bye kisses.

So tired of all the broken promises.

Looking at the map of life I try to find a path.

Try to make it through the storms; find shelter from their wrath.

She stops for awhile and I hope that she will stay,

But somehow I lose her along the way.

Why believe in falling stars and all their failed wishes?

So tired of all the broken promises.

Looking up I see heaven in her eyes,

But she thinks I'm just like the other guys.

With my heart at my feet, feeling like a ton,

I will never comprehend why the equation always equals one.

Don't believe them my mind says, but my heart always listens.

Listens to all their broken promises.
