About PoetryPoetry has a rich history. It seems as if since man first created a written language have we created verse. In places like Europe, poetry has a long history with many legendary poets. You can take a look at these poets in a very complete poetry site, from the University of Virginia. In America we are a young country, but have produced many fine poets. Poetry became very popular in the hippy generation when hanging out at coffee shops while writing verse was cool. Poetry is a great form of self expression and I encourage anyone to write. Hey, even if you are the only one who thinks it's good....it is worth it all the way! :-)!! As Nike would say....Just Do It! (Nike and Just do it are trademarks of the Nike corporation)
