Waimea's Attitude

In the summer, Waimea is a great spot for swimming and sun bathing. The water is cool, cystal clear, and not too rough. The current is quite strong, but it gives the ocean some action. If you're the type of person who does not like rocky places, then this is the perfect place for you. The bottom of the ocean is not covered with rocks. It's all sandy. I love the atmospere of Waimea. The sun is scorching and the water cools you down.

However, in the winter, Waimea is home to the largest surfing waves in the world. It is definitely not one of the best places for casual swimming. The surf is up and sometimes it can be quite dangerous. You'll mostly see surfers riding the enormous waves, which can get up to around 35 feet. Some of these surfers come from different places in the world, just to try out these waves. But, it's mostly recommended for experts only.
