FINALS
WEEK INFORMATION
Updated
April 13, 2018 for Spring 2018
For Finals Week, Saturday 5/5/2018:
Only FINAL Exams will be administered. ACCUPLACER Tests will not
be available.
Finals
exam week is our busiest time. We have been implementing a number
of solutions to ensure that our students have access to the testing
center during final exam week while minimizing wait time to acceptable
levels.
The
testing center will once again implement a staggered finals testing
schedule for Fall 2017 which we strongly encourage everyone to comply.
Finals given in class, of course, should adhere to the published
schedule.
Finals
week will start Friday, December 8 through Thursday, December 14.
All classes can begin testing in the testing center on December
8. Please note that the staggered schedule is set by disciplines
and the goal is to spread the demand for services over the 6 day
period.
For
your convenience, this memo and staggered finals testing schedule
can be viewed online at: http://www2.hawaii.edu/~kcctest/finals.html.
We
are pleased to provide these final exam week resources as a service
to our faculty, staff, and students, so that you can plan ahead
for this semester and beyond.
If
you have any questions, please contact us at kcctest@hawaii.edu.

Tips
and Important Information for Instructors
FACULTY/STAFF:
The Testing Center asks for your help in handling the testing rush
for finals week. Here are some tips that makes the test administration
process run smoothly for our students:
- Make
sure online tests are available on time (e.g. are set to become
active on the correct date and time in Laulima).
- Make
sure passwords for your online tests work.
- Fill
out all proctoring forms correctly and
completely. For online courses that use paper tests, provide enough
copies and do not put student names on the tests. Tests
without names written on them makes it easier for us to distribute.
- Tell
your students that they can only take one test at a time. Students
will not be permitted to check-in for another test until they
completed their previous one.
- For
DSSO Test Requests: Complete the yellow DSSO form for students
who need special accommodations and drop it off at least one (1)
day in advance. DSSO forms are available at the Testing Center.
- Tell
your students: Last check-in for all exams is one (1) hour before
closing.
- Makeup
and regular semester exams must be completed by Thursday, December
7, 2017
Only final exams will be administered during finals week.
- Please
note: The Testing Center will not administer paper tests for face-to-face
(F2F) courses except for DSSO students needing a separate testing
site.
Tips
and Important Information for Students
STUDENTS:
We understand that final exam week can be stressful time for some
of you.
Here are some tips to reduce stress and make your testing experience
run smoothly:
- Bring
a photo ID (government issued OR campus ID).
You will not be permitted to test without an ID.
- You
will be asked for your course name and number, and instructor
name for each test you take.
If you don't know or can't remember this information, WRITE IT
DOWN before you arrive at the testing center and present it to
Testing Center staff.
- You
can take your exams earlier, if your instructor makes it available
for you.
- Take
your test early in the testing period. Do NOT wait until the last
day to take your test.
- You
may check-in for only one test at a time. You may not check-in
for another test until you have completed the previous one.
- Only
final exams will be administered. We will not administer any tests
that should have been taken during the regular semester.
- You
may take online tests at another campus testing center provided
that the testing site has received the test instructions from
your instructor.
- Please
note: Your instructor may restrict their tests to be taken at
a specific campus.
Additional
information for Kapiolani CC Students:
What if my instructor doesn't adhere to the
staggered schedule, will I be turned away?
No you will not be turned away. Follow the instructions given to
you by your instructor, especially if he or she does not follow
this schedule.
Tests
for courses for all other UH system campuses other than Kapiolani
CC:
Final
exam dates for distance learning courses taught at a different UH
community college are set by the individual instructors. Please
follow the dates set by your instructor.
