COMPASS
PLACEMENT RE-TEST FEE:
Fees do not apply to
students re-testing whose previous test scores are expired.
|
$25
|
WHO
PAYS THE COMPASS PLACEMENT RE-TEST FEE?
If a student has active (non-expired) COMPASS test scores in the
UH Banner Student Information System, they shall be assessed a COMPASS
Placement Re-Test Fee of $25 for each re-test session, regardless
of the number of tests taken in any single re-test session.
WHO
IS EXEMPT FROM PAYING THE COMPASS PLACEMENT RE-TEST FEE?
Students
who re-test shall be exempt from paying the COMPASS Placement Re-Test
fees as long as their previous test scores for the sections they
are re-testing in are expired. Test scores expire two (2) years
from the date you last took the test.
WHAT
IS A RE-TEST SESSION?
A re-test session may include any or all of the sections of the
placement test taken in one sitting (Math, Reading, Writing, or
ESL-Reading, or ESL-Writing Sample).
CAN
I CARRY OVER RE-TEST FEES OVER TO ANOTHER DAY?
All tests covered by the re-test fee must be taken in one sitting
on the day it is paid.
Re-test fees cannot be carried over and applied to tests on another
day.
WHAT
TESTS CAN I TAKE WITH A RE-TEST FEE?
Students may only re-test with COMPASS Placement Tests (Math, Reading,
Writing, or ESL-Reading, ESL-Writing Sample). This policy is not
valid for foreign language placement tests.
WHAT
SCORES DO YOU USE TO DETERMINE A STUDENT'S PLACEMENT?
The highest of all active (non-expired) scores shall be used
to determine a student's final placement, in the event the re-test
scores are lower.
ARE
TEST FEES REFUNDABLE?
Re-test fees are NOT refundable once you have paid and a receipt
is issued.
MY
MATH SCORES ARE EXPIRED, BUT MY ENGLISH SCORES ARE STILL VALID.
DO I PAY RE-TEST FEES IF I CHOOSE TO TAKE BOTH SECTIONS AT THE SAME
TIME?
HOW CAN I TAKE THE TEST AGAIN WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY ANY RE-TEST
FEES?
Here
are the answers to each of the scenarios:
- If
you take both Math and English at the same time right now, the
$25 re-test fee will apply because your English scores are still
valid at the time of your re-test.
- If
you re-test on separate dates, taking the Math section now, then
re-take the English section later when your scores expire, fees
will not apply for each test session because you would be re-testing
with expired scores for each section on separate dates.
- If
you take both sections of the test after waiting for your English
test scores to expire, fees will not apply because you would be
re-testing after all test scores have expired.
WHO
CANNOT RE-TEST?
Students who received a passing grade (A, B, C, D, CR, P) |
