YOU ARE HERE: Home > ACCUPLACER Testing Pages > ACCUPLACER Re-Test Policy

There is no charge for a student's first attempt in each section of the ACCUPLACER test (Math, WritePlacer, and/or ESL Reading and Writing Sample test).

If a student needs to re-test in one or more sections of the ACCUPLACER beyond their first attempt, they shall be assessed a re-test fee of $25 for each re-test session, regardless of the number of sections taken during that re-test session.

Please note that re-test fees are NOT refundable once it is paid and a receipt is issued.

Students are exempt from paying re-test fees as long as their previous test scores for the sections they are re-testing in are expired. Test scores expire two (2) years from the date you last took the test.

Plan to complete tests on the day your fees are paid

We strongly recommend that you complete all tests covered by the re-test fee on the day it is paid. We understand that there might be situations out of your immediate control that may require you to postpone the completion of your test. Such situations may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Illness which prevents the student from completing the test(s).
  • Employment reasons
  • An on-campus emergency situation:
    • Power or network outage that prevents you from completing the test
    • Impending natural disaster that closes the campus earlier than the scheduled closing time.

IMPORTANT: If you paid re-test fees and your test is suspended, you must 1) return to complete your unfinished exams within one (1) week, and 2) are responsible for notifying us your exams are suspended. Failure to do so will result in additional re-test fees.

What scores do you use to determine a student's placement?

The highest of all active (non-expired) test scores shall be used to determine a student's final placement, in the event the re-test scores are lower.
