Welcome to my home page!
When I started making this page, I had a layout in my mind of what I wanted it to look like. As I'm starting to figure out, figuring out how to do what I want to do takes much more time than I anticipated! Hopefully when I'm finished with this project, I won't regret all the time it's taken.
To introduce myself a little, I am hoping to graduate at the end of this semester. After changing my major a couple of times, I decided to stick it out with English. Sadly, like most college students, I don't have a solid plan for what I want to do after I graduate. Aside from going to school, I work as a student librarian assistant at Hamilton Library in the Pacific Collection, and as a pharmacy ancillary at Long's Drugs. It's been a tough year but I'm looking forward to the end of this school year!
As this semester goes by, I learn more and more about myself as a person. I'm not sure if the psychological conclusions I arrive at are accurate but they give me a possible explanation for the way I act and think. I think I'm also learning how to understand other people as well. For example, at work, I have to provide "superior" customer service to all the customers who come in to the store. Instead of automatically thinking that a person is always rude, grouchy, or mean, I try to picture myself in their shoes and try to imagine what I would act like if I was in a similar situation...maybe they're having a bad day...maybe they're constantly under a lot of stress...so if I can make looking for a particular item a little less stressful, that'll make their day a little better. On the flip side, can't customers think about the worker? I mean we have lives too. Most of my coworkers are also students, trying to get into graduate school or another competitive program that takes a lot of time, energy, and effort. We go to work after a long day of classes, only to get stressed out by the customers who have to be right because they're customers--everyone knows that the customer is always right!--then we go home to try to concentrate on assignments due the following day or week...don't you love the life of a college student?
