A Constitutional Amendment in Hawaii:

YES? NO?

The current issue of a constitutional amendment to limit marriage to a bond between a man and woman has gained a lot of media attention in recent months. On November 3, 1998, the eyes of our nation will turn to Hawaii as we will be allowed, for the first time, to directly express our views regarding the issue.

The questioning of rights that should be afforded homosexual couples has divided church unity and widened the gap between political figures. It forces us to look at ourselves, our set of moral standards, and the attitudes we have towards the distribution and definition of human rights. The internet has been used by many as a useful tool to promote their ideas and belief systems.

Homosexual communities have used newsgroups, websites, interactive media, and traditional media forms to gain support from several sources. On the other side, opposition to allowing same-sex marriages to be legally recognized have also done the same. Who is going to triumph? Is our traditional definition of marriage going to be altered to include same-sex couples?

This page will attempt to discuss some of the issues related to the same-sex marriage debate. Although it will not answer every question, I intend for this site to be an informative resource people can use to aid in forming their opions on the issue.
