These flashcards present vocabulary (following Prof. Patrick Moran's flashcard design, slightly modified) introduced in Integrated Chinese, Level One and Level Two textbooks. Further instructions on printing and using them can be found here.





Printable Flashcards (PDF)

The PDF files for IC1 come one lesson per package, i.e., two files per compressed archive, the PDF files for IC2 come come one lesson per package, i.e., one file per compressed archive. When printing, remember to print odd pages first, then put the pages back into the printer / tray (last printed page on top as all the printed sides of the sheets are facing you, or first printed page on top as all printed sides of the sheets are facing away from you), and then print the even pages. Keep your fingers crossed that you don't experience any paper jams, as that will throw off front-and-back printing. I usually just set it to print from the manual feed and print the first page, then reinsert that page backwards, and continue following a printing sequence of feed 1, flip feed 2, feed 3, flip feed 4, etc. It may seem like it involves a little more effort, but I've had too many bad experiences and have wasted too much paper in the past because of paper jams screwing up collation.

In April 2001 I revised these files. They are now designed with Avery laser Business Cards #5376 in mind. I suppose any business card sheets will work (i.e., they don't have to be Avery), but remember to check the dimensions: 8 1/2" x 11" (US Letter) size paper, 2" x 3 1/2" size business cards, 10 cards per sheet in a 2 column x 5 row layout, .5" border on top, and .75" on both the left and right sides. The impetus for this formatting is that business card sheets typically are pre-perforated, eliminating the need for laborious use of an industrial-strength paper-cutter, or worse, a pair of scissors. A packet of 25 Avery business card sheets (250 business cards) for laser printers can be found for a little over US$10. To print Level Two Lessons 1-10 one will need about three packets (75 sheets). Remember to de-select fit to page before printing.
