Bourbon Street

Bourbon Street is similar to our Waikiki. Fortunately for me, it was located only a block away from my hotel on Royal Street.  Here is where you can get a daiquiri or the (in)famous Hurricane drinks on the go at the clubs and pubs that populate along the street.  You are free to walk publicly in the streets of NO with your drinks.  How about that?!  This place is wild filled with drunken people, seemingly a preclude to the Mardi Gras that will happen in February 8 of next year.  I saw a lady who was flashing her goods with two guys to support her as she stagger to walk straight.  At a bar, there were people (click on this link to see a video clip of the fans (I used the Canon camera to capture the moment)) congregating outside so out of curiosity I had to find out what I was missing.  Well inside the bar a lady got on a table and danced to the music, topless.  You could see her interesting feature as she would sometimes turned towards the group of people outside! Yikes.

Click on this thumbnail and you will find out that Bourbon Street is located one block northwest of Royal Street.

The lady in the first picture on the right was managing a small liquor stand, slightly setback from the edge of the street.  Here is where I got my very first Hurricane drink, which a hard liquor drink with Vodka and rum.  It was sweet and reddish.  The lady was so nice to pose for my picture.  Oh you can also get a "Huge Ass" beers to go.

A few parties were well underway in some of the balconies above the street, a custom that you will see in the Mari Gras celebration.  Here some of the partakers were throwing beaded necklace to the populace below, if you deserve it.  Of course, I got my pinkish bead but I did not flash a body part as others would have during Mardi Gras time.  With the Hurricane running through my veins, I did not hesitate to wiggle myself silly for a souvenir to bring back home!

Here are some photos of the tourist roaming down Bourbon Street while having a good time.  For some really awesome retro 80s music, I would recommend that you check out the Old Opera House.

Just a photo of the many "horse and buggy" rides you can take within the streets of the French Quarters.
