Hawaiian Music
Hawaiian music got started in the 1700's. At first it was only thought to be chanting with no background music, but many things have changed since then. In the 1800's when the missionaries and others started coming to Hawaii, they brought musical instruments such as the guitars, violins, etc. Since then hawaiian music has been adding the music instruments to their chanting to make it have a different look then before.
Hawaiian music made this change that was the start for many more things to come. After they started adding musical instruments, they were also influenced but other types of music that were evolving at the time. Since this happened, hawaiian music performers decided to try new things. They have ended up where they are now performing a lot more contemporary music.
This is true for many hawaiian music performers, including Na Leo Pilimehana, Justin, and Pure Heart. I chose to find more information on these three performers since they just happen to be favorites of mine. So please feel free to check out what I found by going to my links at the bottom of the page.
