Fact Page
Chief Military Officer is the president
of South Korea, who is Roh Moo Hyun.
South Korea has a military branch, which includes Army, Navy, Air Force,
Marine Corps, and Maritime Police (Coast Guard). To join in the military, you have to be at least 18 years of
age. As of year 2002, Korea’s military
manpower availability is 14,194,960 ranging age from 15-49. For Military manpower-fit for military
service is 8,990,488 ranging age from 15-49.
As of year 2002 South Korea’s military manpower is 394,397. South Korea has $12.8 billion dollar in
military expenditure as of year 2002 (www.cia.gov).
South Korea army consists of the Army Headquarters, the three
army commands, the Aviation Command, and the Special Warfare Command. The army possesses
component units including 11 corps, 50-odd divisions, about 20 brigades, some
560,000 troops, 2,200 tanks, 4,850 pieces of field artillery, and 2,200 armored
vehicles.
The air force supports army counterinsurgency programs with twenty-three Cessna A-37 aircraft, which could also be used in ground attack. Eight Northrop F-5s and twelve McDonnell Douglas F-4s were equipped solely for reconnaissance. A total of fifteen Bell UH-1B and UH1H helicopters are available for search-and-rescue operations.
Since South Korea doesn’t have
any nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons. It will
be hard for us to defend ourselves. The
only possible attack that I’m concern is North Korea, since South Korea is not
providing any aide and this might cause war between two countries. Some of the reasons are that U.S.A is not
providing any aide to North Korea due to nuclear weapons. North Korea has been making nuclear weapons,
which are causing to threat countries.
If North Korea agrees with U.S.A and South Korea that they will stop
making nuclear weapons, South Korea and U.S.A are willing to provide the aide,
which they need.
Currently I don’t have any ambition to become a
CEO because it would be hard for me to decide right now.
