Went down to a large factory in Sanur today to gather information. It is a large scale producer of modern wares with no basis in tradition and not really interested in talking much. I gleamed the names of the villages above which still do traditional earthen ware production.

The factory itself mixes its and clay from a variety of undisclosed sources.
