Copy specific notes:
These are notes used in a MFHD that describe anomalies or special attributes for specific copies of materials in the Library's collections. Some examples that are common include:
Special consideration needs to be paid to errata slips; if they are tipped in by the publisher, then the note rightly belongs in the bib record, in a 500 tag. If, however, the publisher simply lays the errata slip in the piece, and we tip the errata slip in ourselves in Preservation, the note belongs in the MFHD (since we don't know if all copies of the piece have the errata):
If we add a piece with the errata note in the bib record, and the piece we are adding does not have the errata slip, then add a note describing the missing piece to the MFHD:

The above list is not intended to be proscriptive; use your discretion in describing what is special about any given copy. Prefer shorter statements to longer ones. When editing existing bib records with copy specific notes (ones that are found in the bib record), generally move the note(s) to the appropriate MFHD. If there is a question as to if a specific MFHD gets the note, check the stacks as needed to determine whether the errata slip was tipped in by the publisher or not. If you cannot determine by examination, prefer to input the note into the MFHD.
For single pieces, the note goes in the MFHD's 852 tag in a ‡z:
