LIS 601 Introduction to Reference & Information Services:
Introduces the philosophy, principles and practice of reference/information services in libraries, information centers and online communities. Examines the nature of reference work, human information needs and information literacy. Studies the characteristics and application of bibliographic control, reference effectiveness research, and electronic information retrieval systems. Provides practical experience in evaluation and use of bibliographic and Webliographic materials, reference interview and search technique.

LIS 605 Basic Cataloging & Classification:
An introductory course in cataloging and classification. Covers basic application of AACR2, Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal classification systems, and Library of Congress subject headings, as well as use of OCLC.
LIS 650 Management of Libraries & Information Centers:
Basic theories and principles of administration for effective management of public, academic, and special libraries and information centers, with emphasis on planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and control. Administrative aspects of public and technical services, facilities, planning, evaluation, public relations, interagency cooperation, and the management of change in bureaucratic organizations.
Hist 284 History of the Hawaiian Islands:
Survey of state and local history from Polynesian chiefdoms to Hawaiian Kingdom to American territory and state.
