Barney Isaacs

Born: Honolulu, O‘ahu, Hawai‘i
Hawaiian Steel Guitar - Master

"
Hawaiian music is everything to me. I won’t divert my steel guitar to any kind or other type of music...cause not many of us play the way we learned it. I’m not too fancy, but have a style I like to play."

Hawaiian Steel Guitar

The Hawaiian steel guitar is said to be the signature sound of Hawaii. The late Barney Isaacs was a master of the steel guitar and played in nightclubs and restaurants in Waikiki for over 40 years. Barney started playing Hawaiian music professionally in the 1940s and was one the most recognizable musicians on the Waikiki scene. His steel guitar song renditions were moving because of their sweet and lovingly played melodies. Barney had a deep, profound love for this instrument, and will long be remembered for his steel guitar stylings.
