Honda Civic

Honda has returned the Civic Si in 1999. The Si stands for sport injection. The Honda engineers have a special place in their hearts for performance and managed to develop a 160 horsepower, dual overhead cam (DOHC), 1.6 liter VTEC engine. What sets the Civic Si apart from the others is its DOHC engine as apposed to the single overhead cam (SOHC). The car comes equipped with other performance goodies like a smooth-shifting 5 speed transmission, 4-wheel double wishbone suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, 4-wheel disc brakes, and 15 inch alloy wheels.

The unique thing about Honda engines is their Variable Valve-Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC). The VTEC engines use special valve-train components to operate the valves to help provide correct timing for the air/fuel charge. At low RPM (revolutions per minute), VTEC helps deliver low-speed driveability and increased fuel economy. At high RPM, VTEC helps to produce more power.
