2010 KCC Student Journal Awards for Student Writing

The KCC Journal Awards for Student Writing are now accepting entries.
The awards are designed to promote excellence in writing at KCC and to encourage student writers to submit their work to our campus literary journals. Contest entries may be research essays (with MLA documentation and Works Cited), short fiction, personal narratives, and poems. A limit of 2 submissions per journal.

AWARDS
• Three $100 prizes will be awarded by each journal. 
• Publication in the journals and Kapi'o, campus newspaper.
• Invitation to a literary reading and journal signing in the winnerʻs honor.

ELIGIBILiTY
  Must be enrolled at Kap‘iolani Community College.

Deadline: Friday, April 16, 2010.

2010 KCC Writing Scholarship Contest

Contest topic: How has the legacy of a past or older generation influenced your perspective on the present and the future?
Awards: Four winners. Two $500 awards for the winning personal essay; two $500 awards for the winning short rsearch paper or researched personal narrative.

Creative Writing Awards at UH-Manoa open to all UH system students

Submit short stories and poems to The Patsy Sumie Saiki Award (short fiction that in some way reflects the history, cultures or tradtions of Hawaiʻi --$1000 first prize) and The Academy of American Poetry Prize ($100 prize).  Deadline: Friday, April 2, 2010. Follow the guidelines for submission.
