The Hello Project

The Hello project aims to design and implement an operating system in Standard ML.

the latest releases (release 1.0, November 1999) of the Hello project:

  1. sources and binaries release
  2. source-only release
The compiler for this release has only been tested under Linux. The operating system should work on any x86 system with an EExpress ethernet card (or any x86 if you choose not to use the network).

Guangrui Fu has done most of the work on this project to date (1999). Her MS thesis is "Design and Implementation of an Operating System in Standard ML", and is available in postscript or html).

The project is currently based on Standard ML of New Jersey(SML/NJ) and Linux.
