Diagram for the point to point connection of two ethernets.
Diagram of a learning bridge.
Drawing of hubs and bridges connecting different Ethernet segments.
At the upper right is a large Ethernet which still obeys the
4-repeater rule. At the lower right is an Ethernet connected by
bridges, with two links being eliminated (i.e., the bridges agree not
to use these links) by the spanning tree algorithm.
The lowest 4 layers of the OSI standard stack are:
- Layer 4: Transport layer. TCP belongs to this layer.
- Layer 3: Network layer. IP belongs to this layer.
- Layer 2: Data Link layer. Bridges and Switches belong to this layer.
- Layer 1: Physical layer. Hubs, repeaters, NICs, and wires belong
to this layer.

band of frequencies.
