Subject: Technology in the Arts - Midwinter meeting - minutes
Here are the important items discussed at Midwinter. Currently, Brad
Eden is Chair, Debra Shapiro is Vice-Chair, and Sylvia Curtis is Vice
Chair elect.
A Web sub-committee was appointed to design a Technology in the Arts
web page, complete with graphics and neat images. Zoe Stewart-Marshall
is chair of this subcommittee, with Sylvia Curtis and Beth Sandore as
consultants. Anyone else who wishes to be on this subcommittee, please
contact both Brad Eden and Zoe.
The 1998 Annual Program was discussed, and the MESL Program proposal
presented by Howard Besser and Beth Sandore will be presented.
Although we have not heard from the Program Planning Committee yet, I
would appreciate if Howard and Beth would contact all speakers in order
to make sure that they will be participating in this program. Brad
will send in the Conference Program by the Jan. 30 deadline, with all
computer equipment needs stated. Perhaps Debra can send us all a
message on her opinions regarding the presentation to the Program
Planning Committee and their response?
The 1999 Annual Program was discussed. Current subcommittee members
are: Monica Fusich, Chair; Sandra Mooney; Sylvia Curtis; Jim Dwyer;
Laura Greene; and Bob Heriard, consultant. Anyone else who wishes to
be on this subcommittee, please contact Brad and Monica. It was
decided that two programs would be planned: 1 with money for
honorariums, and 1 without money for honorariums. Times for the
program were discussed. Numerous individuals and projects were also
discussed (This was where I had to leave, and I would appreciate it if
Debra or someone else would summarize for all of us what was discussed).
Here are my thoughts: I want both the Web and the 1999 Program
subcommittees to continue to carry on their work until Annual 1998 in
Washington, where I want a report of all activities. Please include
Debra and myself in all e-mail correspondence on these subcommittees.
We need to have the 1999 Program typed up and ready to go BEFORE we
meet in Washington. I would like a list of speakers who have agreed to
speak/demonstrate their digital art/projects BEFORE we meet in
Washington (caps are for emphasis, not emotion). Only by doing this
work beforehand will we be ready, as an interest group, to do what most
of us want to do with this committee. I would appreciate any
comments/discussions regarding any of my comments. Let's go out and
really start preparing for the 1998 and 1999 Annual Programs!!!!
Great seeing all of you at Midwinter, and hope to see all of you again
at Annual in Washington.
