Step 1
Create a new folder on your desktop called "upload".

Step 2
Open the presentation in PowerPoint 2000.

Step 3
Go to File - choose Save As Web Page... and continue to Step 4.

Step 4
A Save As window will pop up. In the middle of the window you will see a button labeled "Publish". Click this button and continue to Step 5.

Step 5
Another window labeled Publish As Web Page will pop up. Make sure you have the following settings:

a. Under Publish What?, make sure that "Complete Presentation" and "Display Speaker Notes" are marked.

b. Under Browser Support, MAKE SURE THAT YOU SELECT THE OPTION "Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later".

c. Under Publish A Copy As, make sure that the "File Name:" option reads "C:\windows\desktop\upload\index.htm" (you can just type it in).

d. BEFORE CLICKING THE PUBLISH BUTTON, WE HAVE ONE MORE OPTION TO CONFIGURE. Under Publish What?, you should see a button labeled "Web Options". Click that button and continue to step 6.

Step 6
Under the General Tab, make sure you have selected "Add Slide Navigation Controls", "Browser Colors" (for the colors option), and "Resize Graphics to Fit Browser Window".

Click the Files Tab and continue to step 7.

Step 7
Under the Files Tab, make sure you ONLY have selected "Use Long File Names Whenever Possible" and "Update Links on Save". MAKE SURE THE "Organize supporting files in a folder is UNCHECKED".

Click the Pictures Tab and continue to step 8.

Step 8
Under the Pictures Tab, you shouldn't have anything selected and for "Screen Size", you can choose either 800x600 (usually better for 17 inch monitors or bigger) or 640x480 (usually better for monitors smaller than 17 inches). I usually select 800x600 as a default.

Click the Encoding Tab and continue to step 9.

Step 9
Under the Encoding Tab, you shouldn't have to do anything to the settings there. It should just say "Save This Document As: Western European (Windows)".

Once you have all these settings completed for "Web Options", then press the "OK" button.

You will be taken back to the Publish as Web Page window. Continue to step 10.

Step 10
Now you can click the "Publish" button.

PowerPoint 2000 will convert your presentation to HTML and place all of the necessary files into the folder called "upload" on your desktop.

Step 11
This is a picture of a converted PowerPoint 2000 presentation to HTML. For this example on your right, I only had 2 slides in my presentation and you can see how many files were created. Imagine how many files you would have if you had 10 slides! In any case, all of these files are required to show your converted PowerPoint 2000 presentation in WebCT.

The next step is to "Zip" your folder or compress the folder so you can upload it to your Student Presentations area of WebCT. View the WinZip help file to learn how to do this.
