Step 1
Open up your web browser and connect to:
http://www.merrilleducation.com
Step 2
Click on the "Instructional Technology" link and
continue to Step 3.

Step 3
Click on the "resources" link and continue to Step
4.

Step 4
Click on the green "Download" link to start the
Classroom Link Software download process and continue
to Step 5.

Step 5
Click on the "heinich" link. DO
NOT CLICK THE "heinich2" LINK! Continue to
Step 6.

Step 6
Double-click the "windows" folder and continue to Step
7.

Step 7
You may get this warning message. Just ignore it and
click the "Yes" button. Basically, you're connecting to a
"FTP" site from a web browser looking for a "HTTP" address
and that is the reason for the warning message. It is
nothing to be alarmed about. Continue to Step 8.

Step 8
Double-click on the "win.exe" file to start the download
of that file. The "win.exe" file is actually a
self-extracting compressed file that contains all of the
programs necessary for installing the Classroom Link
program on your computer. Note: The "win.exe" sometimes
appears just as "win". Continue to Step 9.

Step 9
After double-clicking the "win.exe" file, you may get
this message (using Internet Explorer 5.0 for windows).
Choose "Save this program to disk" and make sure you save
the "win.exe" file into a separate new folder. Continue to
Step 10.

Step 10
If you saved the "win.exe" file directly into a New
Folder (you can tell because the "win.exe" file is the only
file in the folder), then skip to step 13. If not, then read
on.
If you didn't get to save the "win.exe" file into a New
Folder, don't worry. Create a New Folder, and COPY (not move
by drag-and-drop) the "win.exe" file into the New Folder. To
learn how, go to step 11.

Step 11
With your mouse pointer DIRECTLY
ON the "win.exe" file, SINGLE-CLICK your
RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON. This will bring up the menu you see
on your right. Choose "Copy" from the list and SINGLE-CLICK
your LEFT MOUSE BUTTON. This will temporarily
"copy" the "win.exe" file into the computer's memory.
Continue to Step 12.

Step 12
Now open your New Folder, and move the mouse pointer
somewhere on the white space within this New Folder window.
SINGLE-CLICK the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON to bring up a
menu, select "Paste" from the list and SINGLE-CLICK the
LEFT MOUSE BUTTON to execute the procedure. Your
"win.exe" file should now be copied into your New Folder.
You can go ahead and delete the original "win.exe" file
(probably from your desktop) because it should now be a
duplicate. Continue to Step 13.

Step 13
The image you see on the right is what you should see
after you have DOUBLE-CLICKED with the LEFT
MOUSE BUTTON on the "win.exe" file. The file will
auto-expand, thus extracting about 228 files from that
single "win.exe" file. That is the reason for putting the
"win.exe" file into it's own folder because if you didn't,
you should now have all of these files extracted to whatever
directory the "win.exe" file was in. However, once you have
extracted all of the files, look for a file called "Setup"
(should have an icon of a computer with disks in front of it
- see image at right), DOUBLE-CLICK on it with your
LEFT-MOUSE BUTTON and it will start the installation
process for the Classroom Link program. From there
just follow the instructions given by the installation
program. Good luck!
