22" x 30"

water soluble pencil and crayon

2004

"When I was a young girl, my grandmother explained that perfect legs make three diamonds when standing. At that time my too skinny legs could not make a single diamond. These days my legs my legs make two diamonds at the knees and ankles, but my too large thighs fold into each other. I wonder if there was a time when I reached perfection and I was too busy worrying about something else to notice it."

"At that particular moment there was an absolute freedom to their bodies, bare legs stretched out over the remnants of a half eaten picnic."
