like America and America likes Me"

"That day was the closest to my real life it ever got. Instead
of the entourage of fake mothers who I would embrace with gloved hands,
they used my real mother, and a car salesman who was a friend of the
family. They still felt the need to bring in a fake dad. Looking at
the picture now I realize that the man has an uncanny resemblance to
Joseph Beuys. Maybe Joseph Beuys was learning to like America through
product modeling. We all liked America that day playing with the shiny
new car. Maybe that is how I became an artist. Perhaps that day my fake
dad whispered in my ear about the science of freedom."
