The greatest college show on field turf:
that's Warrior football. It's a nouveau Run & Shoot adapted by head coach
June Jones, that generates huge numbers through the air. Follow the Warriors
through the 2004 season here, in their quest for the outright WAC
championship, Timmy Chang's campaign to not only break the all-time NCAA
passing record, but for the coveted Heisman trophy, and the production of
more NFL talent, as Hawaii has become the newest NFL player producing
ground.
Winner of the SJSU@Hawaii Fearless Predioction: Sportsbow
Wow
a lot of really close scores. wayoutwest is good as usual with a 7 point
differential. NelsonO had his season best at 6 points. But this week
Sportsbow has bragging rights off by only 3 points! Incredible prediction.
It should have been a one point
differential if Ayat didn't miss those two easy extra point kicks!
Do I win the same prize like the first one? LOL!... Sportsbow
Winner of the Hawaii@UTEP Fearless Prediction: wayoutwest
what can I say? I wish I were wrong... but this team has some major
problems right now... and I'm not even sure that these problems are short
term ones: no depth to speak of, inconsistent play, no sparkplug leaders, no
motivational coaches, poor play calling.
let
me just say that if some of these potential problems aren't addressed soon,
Hawaii's going to take a beating with their upcoming ambitious schedules. I
cringe at the thought of Hawaii playing at 73000 capacity Spartan stadium or
83000 capacity Bryant Denny stadium (much less bronco or bulldog stadiums
this season).
anyway, I've obviously tempered my expectations for this season. offense is
nothing like it was touted to be in the offseason and the defense looks
lost. no byes for the rest of the year and the REAL MEAT of the schedule
still to come. I'll be looking forward to Timmy breaking the record and
pulling off a couple of upsets from here on out. anything more would be
icing on the cake.

Score One for the Son
Posted on August 26, 2004 at 08:11:57 AM by NelsonO
In
the Honolulu Advertiser earlier this week, there was a picture of Warrior
receiver Landon Gouveia catching a pass in the endzone of the practice
field. Here is the rest of the story...
During the 7-on-7 endzone drill on Sunday, the Warriors had the ball on the
one yard line. Landon Gouveia was lined-up in the slot with linebacker Chad
Kapanui covering Landon.
Standing behind the back-line of the endzone, coach Kurt Gouveia is yelling
at Kapanui to jam the receiver. Now Kapanui loves to hit people. Kapanui
needs no encouragement.
At the snap of the ball, Kapanui gives Landon a couple of good shots. Landon
is a small guy, but he has some quicks. Landon fights through the jam (or
more precisely the jams) and outraces the defenders to the back corner of
the endzone.
The ball is thrown out ahead of Landon, but Landon goes airborne and makes a
brilliant diving catch.
Landon is Kurt's son. Score one for the son.

Are You a Talented Athelete?
In

Sports Illustrated says why you - the

serious thought and consideration.
