The amount of literature on this subject is vast and I feel I’ve gathered only a partial amount here. Further, in this prehistoric period boundaries and ethnicities are vague and undefined and it would be inaccurate to claim that only archaeological work done on the peninsula and concerning peninsular states is relevant to the study of "Korea". Therefore my inclusion of some works actually concerning the archaeology of Northeast Asia in general. I advice anyone interested in this subject to consult Gina Barnes thoroughly comprehensive bibliography on the subject. You can get there from here. As the title indicates, I also chose this section to list works on "Korean origins", a subject that gained tremendous popularity after liberation in the circle of Korean "nationalist historians", who were seeking to disprove earlier Japanese theories that had watered down any notion of an indigenous "Korean" nation and culture. These works addressing Korean origins are not concerned simply, or sometimes even marginally, with archaeology, but also treat linguistic, cultural, and textual evidence.
