Changing prevention from people to providers

Hepatitis C virus awareness programs in Egypt

Public health hepatitis C virus awareness programs are not working.

This is because these awareness programs are directed at the general public when instead awareness should be directed to all health care providers.

HCV is spread by blood. The most likely place a person in the community, especially in Egypt will be exposed to blood is from medical or dental care providers. Primary prevention of HCV requires that doctors and dentist and their assistants and their clinics have to be clean and free of blood. All instruments  and needles and syringes have to be sterile.  This is the problem because the providers are not taking care to make sure that the patients are not being exposed to blood from other patients which may have the HCV virus.
