Habitual Ritual

My senses blurred
as if they were all used up.
I stumble
unable to concentrate on my direction.
My stomach churning
leaving me short of breath and nauseous

I kick the door
forgetting to open it and unable to stop.

Not again.
I never meant for it to be like this.
Oh shit!
As the pillow slaps my face and stops my fall . . .
I remember
I forgot to take an aspirin.

Life's a Dream

It floats by like big fluffy clouds
against a blinding blue sky.
Wakes you up with sporadic bursts
of excitement and terror.
Drags on like a giant anaconda,
yet ends in the blink of an eye.
It rises bright like a sunrise full of
endless opportunities and imagination
and sets smoothly in the warm afterglow

of things accomplished.
Sucks you in with small meaningless whorlwinds,
then lets you go in a careless fashion.
